CORONA, CA (MAY 27, 2016) – Motorcycle Crash Causes Death of Los Angeles Deputy Sheriff – A deputy sheriff for the Los Angeles County sheriff’s department passed away from serious wounds that he sustained in a motorcycle crash with a car and a second motorcyclist May 27, according to officials. The 25 year old deputy, Philip Borja, was riding his motorcycle at about 4:25 PM in the afternoon on Hidden Valley Parkway when he collided with a second biker and then hit a car operated by a young woman from Corona CA, told police Sergeant Paul Mercado.

Apparently, the motorcyclists while traveling east on Hidden Valley Parkway were forced into the westbound side of the street when an automobile driven by the Corona woman suddenly pulled out of the Stater Brothers shopping center. The woman was driving a Volkswagon Bug that suddenly caught fire upon impact. Deputy Borja was transported by Ambulance to the Riverside Community Hospital where he was cared for and later passed away from internal wounds sustained in the collision. The young Corona woman operating the Bug was seen at the same hospital and discharged.

The motorcycle accident resulted in closure of Hidden Valley Parkway for several hours for investigation and cleanup of the debris. The road was reopened around Midnight by the local Corona police department. No one was detained or cited, told officer Mercado; investigation is still pending to review the particulars of the crash. Anyone who has info about the occurrence on Friday afternoon is encouraged to call the Corona PD traffic investigator Clark Evaland.
