Pedestrian Man Fatally Injured By Van in Orange County
ORANGE COUNTY, CA (JUNE 29, 2016) – Pedestrian Man Fatally Injured By Van in Orange County – A pedestrian was killed by a motorist Tuesday night just after 9:30 p.m. after being struck by a minivan while walking through an intersection on Beach Blvd. The pedestrian vs. car accident caused the victim, a 53 year old male, to be rushed to the hospital at UC Irvine Medical Center. The car accident victim succumbed to his fatal injuries and died at the hospital.
The driver at fault was not arrested. According to Orange County traffic investigators at the Huntington Beach Police Department, the driver of the car that caused the accident, an older man driving a older Dodge van, was not driving under the influence or impaired, and he was cooperative when questioned by police at the scene of the accident. The traffic collision resulted in the intersection being shut down at Newman Avenue.
Huntington Beach Police Sergeant Shepherd advised that they will not disclose the name of the pedestrian vs. automobile collision because they must notify the victims family first.
When first responders arrived at the intersection where the crash occurred, they found the pedestrian lying injured on the pavement. The shoe of the victim was laying nearby, as is often the case in a violent collision involving a pedestrian. The man had been walking across Beach Blvd westbound when he was hit by a car.
Fatal traffic collision investigators are searching for anyone who was a witness to the accident, and they ask that if anyone saw the accident to call them at the station.
