Three Major Orange County Freeway Accidents Highlight Southern California Transportation Problems

Three Major Orange County Crashes Shut Down Freeways – Orange County Freeways- Three major car accidents yesterday, killing and injuring several motorists, shut down freeways throughout Orange County, California throughout the day.  All three traffic collisions were unrelated.

In Los Alamitos, an injury crash at 10:30a.m. sent two men in their early 20’s to the UC Irvine Medical Center with critical personal injuries suffered from the impact of the collision. Their Dodge pick-up truck collided with a FedEx van on Katella near Winners Circle, shutting down the intersection for a short while. The car accident leaked out anti-freeze which required cleaning. Orange County traffic accident investigators are still working on the cause of the injury car crash.

Less than 10 minutes later in Tustin on the 5 freeway near Jamboree, a driver was killed and all north bound lanes were shut down after the car crash burst into flames. Three cars were wrecked in the collision. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, one was rushed to UC Irvine Med Center with burns, and a woman was treated for non life threatening injuries at the crash site. California Highway Patrol and Orange County Fire investigated the cause of the accident. Due to the entire freeway heading north being closed, the gridlock lasted for several hours and miles.

The last accident was after 8:00 p.m. when two boys, ages 14 and 17, in Tustin on Jamboree southbound at Edinger, hit the median and took flight over the center divider. The car landed into oncoming cars on the other side. Both young victims were rushed to the emergency room for their injuries sustained in the car accident. No other people were injured. The cause of the crash is still under review, and accident investigation reveals that drugs and driving under the influence of alcohol are not a factor in the major car accident.
