The car accident happened just before 9:00 p.m. after the Angels center fielder left Angeles stadium where his team shut out the Cincinnati Reds. Trout was driving a Black Mercedes Benz Sedan which sustained major damage and was towed from the scene. There were two related crashes involved in this southern California freeway crash on the 55 southbound near the McFadden exit. The conditions of the other victims are unknown, and the California Highway Patrol Traffic Accident investigators are still investigating the details of the injury freeway accident.

A spokesperson for Trout told the press that the star ballplayer was not hurt. He will travel with his teammates today to Seattle to play a series there. A white Chevrolet compact car sustained major damage. The driver in the crash was pulled from the car by Orange County Fire Department personnel after using the “Jaws of Life” to extricate him.

The “jaws of life” is a heavy-duty hydraulic tool used to pry the wreckage apart in order to free the passengers trapped inside of a mangled vehicle. The pincher like large tool was first used by fire departments in 1971, and was designed in California in the 1960's for the rescue of race-car drivers who were trapped after a crash. The car crash rescue tool has saved thousands of lives throughout the decades, according to car accident injury lawyer Alexander Napolin of the Napolin Law Firm.
