ORANGE COUNTY, CA (May 12, 2016) – Orange County Fatality Reported in Possible Racing Accident – A possible street racing accident on Thursday evening in Orange County has left one person dead. Due to the severity of the accident, the intersection of Chapman Avenue and Malena Drive between the 55 freeway was closed for investigation until about 3:00 am.

Early reports indicate that the accident took place around 8:40 pm near the intersection of Chapman Avenue and Yorba Street, outside of Chapman Medical Center. Authorities stated that a female driver was traveling westbound on Chapman Avenue in a grey sedan when she was rear ended by another female driver traveling in a black sedan. The impact from the crash forced the grey sedan through the intersection, where it then become engulfed in flames. Apparently, a witness pulled the victim from the burning wreckage but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Fire officials later stated that the grey sedan was entirely engulfed in flames when they arrived at the scene. A third vehicle was side-swiped during the accident and the driver was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The driver of the black sedan remained on the scene and was later transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
