A wrong-way driver crashed into a Nissan Sentra Thursday at 3:00 a.m. on the Interstate 10 Freeway, killing a 53 year old woman and injuring another motorist. The name of the deceased has not yet been released.
The wrong way driver was 23 year old Christopher Olivas. He was arrested for vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol after he crashed his Tahoe into the victim, who was killed at the scene of the fatal collision. The deceased was driving the Sentra, and her car crashed into a Chevy Traverse, which was driven by a woman from Baldwin Park. She sustained minor injuries. The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert, closing down the freeway westbound for 4 hours. The freeway traffic was backed up all the way to the 15 freeway. All lanes were closed from Monta Vista Avenue.
