Rollover Crash in Costa Mesa Brings Morning Commuters Halt
COSTA MESA, CA (May 19, 2016) – Rollover Crash in Costa Mesa Brings Morning Commuters Halt – Thursday morning traffic came to a grinding halt after a rollover crash shut down roadways and left drivers with minor injuries.
According to Costa Mesa Police, the accident took place around 6:15 am near the Newport Boulevard and Fair Drive intersection. A Toyota pickup truck apparently crashed into a Chrysler PT Cruiser and ended up flipping over. Several witnesses stated that the Toyota pickup truck was traveling east on Fair Drive when the driver ran a red light and crashed into the PT Cruiser in the intersection. While neither driver was seriously injured, both complained of minor injuries. It is unknown at this time if ambulance services were called to the scene.
Due to the severity of the accident and the amount of debris in the roadway, Costa Mesa Police had to shut down all but one lane of traffic in the area until around 7:30 am. Authorities are still investigating the crash at this time and no further information is available on the drivers involved.
